You don’t have to be a farmer to be a Young Farmer

Being a member of one of our clubs is for anybody who enjoys being outdoors and making life long friends. Agriculture can be as big or as small a part of your time in Young Farmers as you want.

Our members are aged 10 - 28 years old and come from a diverse range of backgrounds. Bedfordshire Young Farmers helps young people expand on the skills they currently have and gives them the opportunity to learn new ones.

Bedfordshire county has seven clubs, with each club meeting weekly. YFC is run by its members for its members so meetings can be guest speakers, visits, activities etc. Once a month the entire county meet all together, as well as competing in county, area and national competitions throughout the year.

Meet Our Clubs

The Annual Country Show & Rally

The annual rally and show began in 1946 and 2024 will be our 76th annual event.

Our clubs compete against each other across a variety of disciplines. The pre-rally, stock-judging and equine events take place earlier in the year. The livestock, handicraft, flowers, cookery, skills and main ring classes all take place on Rally day. The finale event is the grand parade of themed floats (for 2024, A Celebration of the World) which culminates in a flour and water fight.

Besides the Young Farmers’ competitions, there are food stalls, shopping opportunities, and local, rural businesses and organisations to visit and learn from. The Main Ring arena is home to several displays throughout the day.

We hope you will join us to celebrate all the countryside has to offer!

“This year the YFC Rally reaches its 76th year. The Rally is the focal point for the Bedfordshire YFC where old, existing and new members come together to produce an event that the whole county can be proud of. It allows the YFC movement to showcase skills from flower arranging to tractor driving and everything in between. There is a competition for everyone young or old to participate in. If it is you first time at a rally just take a moment to view some of the exhibits created by the YFC members and consider how much time effort has been put in. Then consider the difficult job the judges and stewards have in deciding an overall winner.

The Rally allows the farming community to come together and give everyone an insight into the trials and tribulations of agriculture, a wonderful industry.”
